Disney canceled re-release of Star Wars in 3D

Darth Vader, Disney, Star Wars, cinema, film, Hollywood, 2013After Disney published with great fanfare that they had hired a director for the new film of "Star Wars", with new projects for previous films, the Factory has decided to cancel the 3D re-release of "Star Wars II and III".

According to an exclusive published by web Deadline Hollywood, Disney has decided to cancel the re-release in 3D of Chapters II and III of "Star Wars" and focus more on the new trilogy in the series to be directed by J. J. Abrams. This will cancel the deal that Lucasfilm had with Fox.

We imagine that is not liked by the Disney Company nor the followers of the saga "Star Wars", but this cancellation is conditioned also by the weak reaction that it had in February 2012 premiere of Episode I in 3D, "The Phantom Menace" and grossed only $ 23 million in its U.S. release.

Disney, Star Wars, Hollywood, Lucasfilm, 2013, cinema, filmAnother point so it has been canceled these re-releases was also the criticism that Episode I received for comments of its followers that regarded this new project a new trick from George Lucas to continue stretching the stellar gum. Although, despite that, the revival of "The Phantom Menace" became the first movie "Star Wars" that surpassed the box office barrier the not inconsiderable figure of one billion dollars.

Disney wants to continue with his traditional way of reaching the hearts of all families with his films and does not want any complications about having to take a new format to the previous films in the series.

We believe that Disney will wait to see what the result and the host of Episode VII "Star Wars" and from there, they will reflect if  it has room or not to do a new incursion in the three dimensions.
