Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks make a return to television for tandem and produce a mini series on World War II for the pay channel HBO. A project that is still untitled but once again associating both film artists.
Birds of a feather flock together. That's what they should have thought of the pay-TV channel HBO when they have proposed to re-join forces to perform and produce a new mini series set in World War II. Another series war over, the third, based on U.S. participation in the bloodiest event of all time.
For money is not going to be because the television payment HBO will be responsible for financing the mini series that will be based on the work entitled "Masters of the Air: America's Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany" by American writer Donald L. Miller and whose rights have just been acquired by HBO for TV adaptation.
The new series from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks will discuss what were the soldiers of Eighth Air Force Division of the United States (Eighth Air Force) in air combat that took against the German Luftwaffe. All this told through the eyes of those same soldiers.
If all goes as planned, Spielberg and Hanks again have the same success they had with their previous two series also aired on HBO, "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific". Both were nominated for Golden Globes, but only the first might get the coveted award also carried six Emmy Awards. The second series was eight. Moreover both had great critical and audience. Hopefully the third has another notable success audience and awards.
