Irish actor Peter O'Toole has decided to put an end to a long and prolific career in which his more prominent role and has been reminded of Lawrence of Arabia. Says farewell to the stage and he confesses that he was "deeply grateful".
In a statement published in People magazine Peter O'Toole, 79, explained, from the depths of his heart, his final withdrawal of the art world in general: "Dear All, It is time for me to chuck in the sponge. To retire from films and stage. The heart for it has gone out of me: it won't come back. My professional acting life, stage and screen, has brought me public support, emotional fulfillment and material comfort. It has brought me together with fine people, good companions with whom I've shared the inevitable lot of all actors: flops and hits. However, it's my belief that one should decide for oneself when it is time to end one's stay. So I bid the profession a dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell. Ever, Peter O'Toole.".
His recent works include the TV series "The Tudors" (2009) and "Cristiada" (2011), a dramatic and historic Mexican film directed by Dean Wright, who won an Oscar for special effects in "The Lord of the rings", and in which co-starred with Andy Garcia and Eva Longoria.
Following this release, Peter O'Toole, according to People magazine, no more interviews granted or make more statements, and that from now concentrate solely on his memoirs.
