Madonna auction a painting to fund education for girls in Afghanistan

The singer Madonna has once again flaunt their solidarity and show their altruistic image in favor of those who need most help in the world. In this case, girls who do not have a place to further their education.

For this reason, the Queen of Pop has decided to auction a painting by French artist Fernand Léger entitled "Three women on the red table"'. All the proceeds of this auction will help fund education for girls in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries. As reported by the auction house Sotheby's, are expected that painting fetch between $5 and $7 million (about 3.8 to 5.4 million euros). A small amount for everything you really need in those countries.

On Tuesday, the singer traveled to Malawi with her two adopted children, Mercy James and David Banda, and her natural daughter, Lourdes, to visit one of the schools she founded in the African country. According to the newspaper Malawian Nyasa Times, Madonna and her children visited Mkoko primary school, one of the ten that Madonna's organization, "Raising Malawi" has built in that place in association with "BuildOn".

In a note sent to the auction house, Madonna expresses all her feeling towards the situation they are living in these countries: "I cannot accept a world where women or girls are wounded, shot or killed for either going to school or teaching in girls' schools. We don't have time to be complacent".

The painting will be part of the auction of Impressionist and modern art that Sotheby's will held in New York on May 7. Madonna purchased the picture in 1990 through an auction held by the same auction house.
