Rumors about a possible collaboration of actresses Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep jumped to light more than a year ago, but now that the producer of the film, Weinstein Company, has confirmed the news.
It is the first time these two Oscar-winning actresses and work together without the collaboration that had both in "The Ant Bully" where lent their voices to the characters of the animated film.
The film will be honored to have these two great figures of the film will be "August: Osage County", an adaptation of the award-winning play by Tracy Letts same name, to be headed in the film version by director John Wells ("The Company Men").
In this new work the two actresses are mother and daughter, respectively, waiting for filming to start in the second half of this year.
Meryl Streep plays the Wilson clan matriarch, Violet, and Julia Roberts is her daughter, Barbara. The story will focus on the turbulent relationship of women of this family whose lives, in a moment of crisis, lead them back to the family home where they grew up and where a dysfunctional mother created them.
The director is happy to direct them in the film: "I feel privileged to lead Meryl and Julia in this magnificent piece (...) The unique operating environment of Meryl made her the only option to play Violet. The two actresses have, in short, two important issues in their lives once again. On the one hand Meryl Streep will compete next week to get a new Oscar after his acclaimed performance of former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's "The Iron Lady" while Julia Roberts has just become an evil witch in the film "Mirror mirror".
